This show is everything a cabaret show should be: an amazing combination of original songs and covers, sung by someone with a strong and moving voice, interspersed with short snippets of an interesting story and some effective interaction between singer, accompanist and audience. I never thought I'd hear 'Hurt' by Nine Inch Nails and 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' in the same show; obviously I didn't anticipate Tom Dickins and Jennifer Kingwell. Late night magic.

In short: I absolutely loved it
The intimate setting and the masterful mixture of story and song take you all around the world on Tom's world adventure, accompanied by Jen.
This show was the highlight of my school trip to the fringe festival and cant wait to see them both in Melbourne.

This show totally blew me away. Both Tom and Jen are oozing talent.
From the moment the show begins you are drawn in and become totally immersed in the story being told on stage. The highs, the lows, the laughs and the tears.
Each song was performed with tremendous skill and Tom's voice is just beautiful.
I have a feeling we'll be hearing much more about them in the future.

Tom Dickens you were delightful, adorable, earnest & cheeky.
As an audience member during the show where you received, I believe, your first standing ovation, I truly feel you earnt it.
With a lovely singing voice & relaxed storytelling style you wowed the late night crowd.
Jennifer Kingwell knows just the right time to smile or scowl & is a perfect accompanist.

This was the stand-out show of Fringe 10 for me. Tom Dickins builds a connection with the audience founded on honesty, disclosure, shared humour and a brilliant taste in music.
This show includes famous numbers and reworked famous numbers (Tori Amos, NIN) but it is Tom Dickson's own songs and their captivating lyrics that will stay with you.
You will leave 'Where Was I?' knowing exactly where you were ... in the presence of the next big thing who is set to give us the anthems of tomorrow.

I don't know where my other review for this show has gone.. but I said it was great.. except for a couple of stumbles and being a tiny bit too long. People should definately see it if they are interested in aussie cabaret.

This was my second favourite show at Arcade Lane.. It was heart warming and honest. Raw and a little clunky which is what made it work and not quite work - it has some flaws I won't lie (it's a bit too long) but the charisma and sheer talent of Tom Dickins is what sells it. See it if you are interested in aussie cabaret!

From the moment Tom steps on stage, you are just wooed and captivated by his performance. It is refreshing to see a show that will have a life after the Adelaide Fringe. This is Cabaret at its best. If you are after a show that is different and actually good, see this one!

Go see the show, you won't regret it.

A truly captivating performance. Tom Dickins takes you on a journey of self discovery as he reminisces about his travels across the world.
To accompany the storytelling is a selection of beautifully touching songs sung with the angelic voice of Tom Dickins, and the incredibly talented and incredibly cute Jennifer Kingwell on piano.
Both compellingly funny and tragically sad, this performance is not to be missed.
