ADAM HILLS - MESS AROUND

TOKEN EVENTS

Category: Comedy

Adam loves ad-libbing with a crowd. This year he' s throwing the script out the window and devoting an hour to messing around. No structure, no material, no idea. "[His] interaction with the audience proved so fruitful that they were reluctant to release him back on to the stage" ***** Scotsman.

Adam Hills shows have always been a must see when ever he is performing, "Messing around" is a format I have not seen Adam use since the days of Boltz Cafe Comedy nearly sixteen years ago and is a welcomed treat to bypass scripted comedy.
Anyone who has witnessed Adam's shows are fans for life.

If I could I would book now for 2011 Fringe Festival, the tickets sell like a rock star.

Adam Hills is a Star and Adelaide will always be home.

Hats off to you...

The messing about with the audience idea really appealed to me, it guarantees you see a different show ever night and in the Fringe environment where I am increasingly seeing the same comics do the same routines over and over its very refreshing. Tonight Adam had found a young man who was drunk with an artifical leg, he described it as lookingin a mirror 20 years ago, when I left they were doing terminator impressions and the can can. Apparently you can pay may money to see stuff like that!! (And you should)

Incredibly relaxed on stage, Adam's easy banter with the audience produces non stop laughs and some hilarious situations. Adam is marvelously clever and a really nice guy. Definitely one of the best shows I've seen at the fringe this year.

Yay for Adam! He chats with the audience (not mean to anyone so don't be afraid) and creates one big happy (laughing) family by creating our own little personal in-jokes for the night. Watch out for his 6pm t-shirt sales for Novita - celebrating the personalities he has plucked form the audience. Lots of laughing all round, this man is a great comedian with a really positive style. I recommend him lots! Nice touch he provides audiences web address to share the memories of our show for free.

I've seen a shopping list of Fringe events: theatre, puppetry and music and comedy. But nothing, NOTHING beats Adam Hills' show.

After a long-standing love affair (unrequited!) with the work of another standup comic, I unapologetically switched my future praise & devotion to Adam within 15 minutes of the show starting.

His ability to ad-lib is wonderful; his rapport with the audience outstanding. And his follow-through (thanks for the T-Shirt, Adam!) was incredible. A thousand thank yous!

We saw Adam tonight and loved his show. Unfortunately we arrived late due to the clipsal traffic delays and he rushed over to welcome us!(very dangerous when seing a standup comedian) luckily he found our teenage sons more interesting than us. He is so quick and clever there wasn't a slow moment in the show. I loved it and wished it was longer. This is the best Fringe show we have seen yet!

Easily the best show we have seen this year, heaps of fun, mainly adam picking on the crowd but still very funny. As a long time fan i am probably bias'd, but i really enjoyed the show, it covers a huge range of topics and it seemed to fly past really quickly, only problem for me was a large man that sat in front of me, but not even that stopped me from laughing! top show!

Ad Libbing in it's perfection...this man is a comic genius. From the time he said welcome to the conclusion he had us roaring with laughter and throughly engaged!!!!

I wanted to like this more because Adam is such a nice bloke (and he proved this by really looking after the audience participants) but this was a bit like being at someone's saturday arvo BBQ and listening to the 'funny bloke'. While I agree that 'normal' people are funny I paid to see Adam and though he was a great host, I didn't get to see beyond the Spicks and Specks persona. A couple of funny moments but a bit flat.

Man boobs. Belly wobbles. Queenslander mums razzed on Shiraz. An 18th birthday. Condom balloons. Lots of laughs. My show had everything - what will yours have?

Funny and intelligent, this show was all I'd hoped for and more! The man is a natural entertainer, and his ability to make an hour-long show from audience participation was quite skillful. It was also nice to see him later that night taking part in his wife Ali McGregor's show. One of the highlights of the entire Fringe.
